It’s incredible how a project can emerge from just a chance meeting with someone who inspires you.

This project originates from a story we shot for Sportsnet on Kelly Serbu—captain of Team Canada's blind hockey team. We got to know him and it was clear that he was very passionate about doing anything he could, to get word about the sport out there to more people. When a major tournament rolled through town we jumped at the chance to help.

A short-form documentary

We had the opportunity to speak with some really interesting people. It’s really clear when you hear it first hand, how important a sport like blind hockey can be for people who are suddenly faced with a fundamental change in their lives.

Victory Journal

We felt really good about the work and continued the conversation with Victory Journal—a print and digital publication that focuses on the drama and passion in sport. They loved the work too and published the project alongside a narrative titled "ice and men" written by Victory contributor Bud Schmelling.

Ironically blind hockey is an incredibly visual sport—the movement, sound, and infinitely Canadian environments

—it’s all just so compelling.
